As the saying goes, life wasn’t meant to be easy. It’s the same reason that diamonds and gold are buried deep underground and not just rolling around in the gutter outside your house. All the best things in life take hard work to achieve. Take for instance, Stefan Oka, nice Guy’s who lived in Surabaya, East Java. He took a challenge to get the best thing in his life, bought a bike and started to customized it. If you brought it home and ride with an original look,  that would be no fun now would it?And now from our latest features with a honor we are introducing THE CHICS that we built from 2012 Kawasaki ER6N. And because being back with a bang is so much better, here is, without any further ado, THE FLYING NINJA, a scrambler the likes of which you’ve never seen before.

The layout for the bike was adjusted accordingly, Building on previous experience, we only need to re-changed the model from an original frame. The front end We used from Suzuki GSXR600 included brake master and caliper. Swing arm plus back suspension still using an original including the rims. Only changed tires using  Avon Distanzia 120/70-17 for front and 160/60-17 for the back. The original body was swapped with a handmade unit crafted from 1.2mm galvanized plate, along fitted in original Kawasaki ER6N main frame. The custom headlight and taillight on “The Chics” are joined original handlebar, custom exhaust system and topped off with a classic white base by Komet Studio, highlighted with candy blue and glossy black accents, using Sikkens product. Finally, with the build finished, there is only one thing left to do, and it is best summed up by our self. Nothing the best, it’s just a simply stunning from us, but really, It’s satisfied!!

THE RUSTLE – HARLEY DAVIDSON SPORTSTER XL883 ’02

It’s true. Sometimes the simple things in life are often the best. Take for example this 2002 Harley Davidson Sportster XL883 build with collabration between us and our senior, Flying Piston Garage. No clutter, no mess, no flair. Just clean lines, a simple colour palette and beautifully exposed and finished mechanical goodness. Our Harley Davidson Sportster Xl883 build mixed like boardtracker style and WLA style named ‘The Rustle’ is our latest creation.  “The Rustle is a classic motorcycle look, the perfect balance between brute and refinement”.

Let’s start about the story! Frame handmade was done with hard character by our senior, Flying Piston Garage. They have a workshop in Bandung, West Java, and have a very big talented to build old skool looks. Using images source they also made a springer front fork like WLA model. The tank, front fender and rear fender was hand fabricated in 1.2 mm galvanized steel to match the boardtracker style as closely as possible with only photographs as a reference point. Dimensions were modified to fit up with the classic handmade frame. The 1954 XL’s original drum brake were fitted with 19 inch spoke wheels and Avon Speed Master MKII 4.00-19 for front and rear. Front and rear drum brakes provide plenty of stopping power for the 883 cc v-twin and go perfectly with the bikes classic look. Upgrade the looks, some of engine parts has been engraved manually with a tribal and flower style and didn’t missed to put a Harley Davidson logo. The all body has been finished in classic white with black/dark brown pinstripe by local spray painters Komet Studio with the Harley Davidson words on tank sides.

THE TEMPER – KAWASAKI VERSYS 650 ’14

Nothing ever really goes to plan. The multitude of options available to us at any one time makes it hard to know where we will end up. Unless it’s time to go to the night club, because that is a given. This indecisiveness through an excess of options affects the custom motorcycle world as well, with culture/drivetrain/performance/bike styling choices making it hard to settle on one result. This is what happened with today’s feature bike, the latest offering from us, call it THE TEMPER that we built from 2014 Kawasaki Versys 650.When the custom motorcycle scene in Indonesia booming, it is no wonder more and more people want to be seen riding one. Take for instance like Bro Anas D.V, He bring his bike and wanted to get the feel of riding a custom bike that converted to a scrambler style. “When I choose this bike, I knew that I needed to modify this bike. The distinctive suspension looks perfect for a scrambler style”, says Anas. The engine is a 649 cc liquid-cooled, four-stroke parallel twin with a bore X stroke of 83 mm x 60 mm.

The original body was swapped with a handmade unit crafted from 1.2mm galvanized plate, along fitted in original Versys main frame. The custom headlight and taillight on “The Temper” are joined by Pro Tapper handlebar, custom exhaust system and topped off with a classic grey base by Komet Studio, highlighted with silver accents, using Sikkens product. Finally, with the build finished, there is only one thing left to do, and it is best summed up by our self. Nothing the best, it’s just a simply stunning from us, but really, It’s satisfied!!

THE DISHARA – HARLEY DAVIDSON SPORTSTER XL883 ’89

For Bagus Nugroho, his HD SPORTSTER XL883 ’89 has very own meaning and deep historical value. “My Late Uncle gave me this bike as memories and I want to build it as my respect and honor for him..”, said the man who works at one of top Indonesian Telecommunication Company when he visited Studio Motor workshop. Bro Bagus need to change his bike appearance like bobber style, which is very appealing and match to HD Sportster ’89 Series. Basic on Bro Bagus request, here is the list of parts and work progress to built his bike with the name “The Dishara”.

Start this project, we began to remove all the body and suspension parts, and then we cut the front suspension, to make it lower at the front. Meanwhile, at the rear part we installed 11 inch progressive shock , to balance the height from the front. For the wheels, we choose to use spoke rims 16″ with 3″ & 4″ width. For the tires, Bro Bagus decided to use Firestone Deluxe Champion 5.00-16 which improve classic and to match bobber style theme. Entering bodywork step, relying galvanize 1.2mm plate material,  we rebuilt whole body part from scratch, including all fender, gas tank, and side cover. After bodywork finished, we started painting session. Black colour with mixed doff-gloss effect with silver stripping choose by Bro Bagus, to make simple impression yet frightening. Final step focused on applying support parts, like handlebar from Khrome Werkz, aftermarket headlamp 5 3/4″ inch, Performance Machine air filter, RSD handgrip and custom exhaust free flow 2 in 2 configuration.

After finished this project, every inch of its body was changed, from the first-look which seemed old fashioned, it turned out to be more more freshened and fitted with the bobber concept “it looks ‘catchy’ and obviously becoming my pride to makeover this bike, and II dedicate this project to my uncle…”, Bro Bagus said after seeing the whole process of his bike. The most important thing in HD Sportster XL883’s transformation was its fancy like the other bikes in various style in this era.

JAKARTA, ME. Banyak orang kepincut aliran vintage buat mengubah tampilan motornya. Nggak tanggung-tanggung, motor baru yang baru berojol dari dealer pun langsung diboyong ke bengkel modifikasi. Salah satunya Yamaha YZF-R25 punya Hanhan dari Bandung. Doi rela R25 baru yang masih 0 kilometer di-custom ulang oleh Baru Motor Sport (BMS).
BMS yang dikomandoi Ariawan Wijaya dipercaya menyulap R25 yang aslinya bertampang sport fairing tulen jadi bergaya vintage cafe racer. Wuihhh, apa nggak sayang tuh sama penampilan sport tulennya, brad? "Rangka sama sekali nggak diubah atau dipotong kok. Jadi, tetap aman dan nyaman," jelas Ari.
Seluruh bodi aslinya dipretelin dan terpaksa dipensiunkan. Mulai dari bodi belakang, fairing sampai undertail diganti dengan bahan plat. Termasuk kondom tangki yang bentuknya membulat juga berbahan plat. "Model kondom tangkinya nggak niru dari model motor lain. Yang penting bisa pas dengan tangki aslinya," kilah Ari.
Konsep cafe racer yang diusung sangat kuat pada bagian depan. Bentuk fairing depan yang menyatu dengan windshield jadi ciri utama. Juga bagian belakang dengan buntut tawon yang desainnya juga menyatu dengan stoplamp, bradsis.
Gaya riding juga kental dengan nuansa racing, dengan footstep after market dari Katsumoto Jepang. Otomatis, kaki juga sedikit nekuk saat motor diajak bermanuver nih. Meski bergaya klasik, unsur modern juga nemplok pada R25 ini, bradsis. Seperti muffler racing Akrapovic dengan suara ngebassnya, sampai stoplamp LED yang modelnya 3 in 1 menyatu dengan lampu sein.

THE REBELLION – HARLEY DAVIDSON SOFTAIL ’06

There is so many ways to fulfill dreams and bring it to reality. Likewise, the cool guy Felix T.J., who want to express his own identity, as his passion to build a motorcycle. “I have a dream to build a bike since long time ago Bro, because with this way, I can show my own expression and emotion…”, said the man whose own coffee business, and had few of antique cars when he discussed together with us at STUDIO MOTOR Workshop. The HD Softail FXST/I 2006 completed with gearbox and open primary was chosen as the engine part. Bobber Style will be the main concept considering for comfort features to use it daily and riding by Bro Felix in the next days.

For the first, we made a rolling chassis designed with softail model as Bro Felix requested, this frame made more lower and also give more space for wheelbase to accentuated the strong impression. We chose seamless Pipe 1.25” and 1” with 3mm width for chassis material. In the front suspension, we used an original telescopic 41 mm from HD Softail match with casting wheels 19 x 3.00 inch for front and 16 x 3.5o inch for rear picked by Bro Felix himself to emphasize the bobber style that he wants. For the tires, Firestone Deluxe Champion 4.00-19 and 5.00-16 to front and rear chosen because the pattern is matched to bike shape’s of strong classic looks. After we done with chassis and suspension, and then we continued to make all body parts, with galvanize plate 1.2mm for gas tank, oil tank, even to fender based on Bro Felix concept. After we covered it with solid black combine with greenish gray at sides of it. As a “beautify” accent we added waves combined with “Kanji” letters especially ordered by Bro Felix. Next step for finishing process, at the engine we painted it a doff-black with powder-coating painting techniques, for a few of engine parts, we’d turned it to gold plate to give it a luxurious looks. Head cover was engraved with Japanese-tribe motives to strengthen its personal appearance. For handlebar we choose Khrome Werkz product, while for the front light, Wyeth product was fulfilled our needs because of its simple design. For the air filter we’ve made it with velocity stack model, and Vance & Hines 2 in Big Radius was equipped for the exhaust.

After all process has been finished, THE REBELLION can give a personal impression for this guy. Bobber looks were so viscous with a personal ‘touch’ from the owner was beautifully mated. When the photo session with TANK MOTO Magazine from Australia at March 11, 2015 in our workshop, this bike was choose as our ‘role-model’. Well…congratulation for your bike Bro Felix!
