Simple and aggressive. This was the
build brief for our today’s feature bike. This neat Yamaha SR500 is one
such build by us as a representative for our customer. He wanted to
build a bike that would be fun for short commutes around the city, he
first heard about the SR500 one year ago, and instantly fell in love
with the idea of a single-cylinder half-liter bike. The design was
mostly influenced with a simply model and worth for daily ride.
Utilizing the classic single for the build, we decided the engine
needed no work, and to focus on improving the aesthetics of the machine.
The first aspect that needed to be touched up was the stance. And now
with our pride, we are introducing our new latest build, THE BIFFY with a
1982 Yamaha SR500 as a donor.
Taking inspiration from the final
design before, the machine has had the stock rims powder coated in
black, laced with aluminum 18X3.00 and 18X3.50 inch spokes and wrapped
with 4.00-18 and 4.50-18 Firestone tires for front and back. Hand formed
custom tank, side cover and front fender are made from 1.2 mm
galvanized plate and the beautifully finished seat was covered in house.
The classic gold brown combined with silver stripes and Yamaha logo
were done by Komet Studio in Jakarta, who finished the bodywork using
Sikkens base coat and varnish. For front forks we choose 41 mm
telescopic shock included Nissin master cylinder and caliper for brake
system, that instantly transform the bikes handling, safety and
appearance. A set of fatbar handlebars and custom headlight sits between
them, mounted on the lower triple tree. Upgrades to the SR500
performance come in from custom stainless steel exhaust system.
It’s a great bike, not uncomfortable
as you could think, and ready to use for daily ride. We states that
modify this bike with the purpose of earning our customers satisfaction
and pride. And we think can safely assume have done that with this
build. So….Please welcome “THE BIFFY”.
