THE SOOTY – YAMAHA SCORPIO 225 ’08

SCORPIO KEN - 8-01

The Yamaha Scorpio 225 is a staple in the diet of the custom bike in Indonesia. Easy to work with, reliable and carrying that thumper note, it has made many a solid platform for a custom ride. These days, most seem to end up as cafe racer, scrambler, bratstyle or tracker. Same this one, this 2008 Yamaha Scorpio 225 was built with something new look – a vintage looking street tracker with upgraded components. Built for our customer outside Jakarta, this bike has been built for kicking up dust and enjoy for daily riding. This is THE SOOTY that we built from one of popular motorcycle in Indonesia, the result is a bike that spares no coolness, and an owner that now has no spare time thanks to his newfound biking obsession.
SCORPIO KEN - 3-01
The suspension sector is the first step we did, we changed the original front fork with 41mm telescopic from Yamaha Byson. TK Japan 18X2.50 inch wheel combined with Firestone Deluxe Champion 4.00-18 tire, were choose to complete the front. At the rear, we made custom swing arm using 1.25” seamless pipe and changed mono shock suspension to dual shock suspension. For this, we put 360 mm YSS Z-Series rear shock. TK Japan 18X3.00 inch rim was selected to be mated with 4.50X18 Firestone Deluxe Champion tire. “Well, from the beginning I was prefer to use that kind of wheels, to emphasize the ‘classic’ line…”. Here comes the bodywork, a boxy-gas tank with a minimalist style made from 1.2 mm galvanized material plate to be the main body, fenders, and side cover. After the bodywork was done, Komet Studio made his move! We choose mate black from Sikkens and decorated with a gold and silver simply line, The Yamaha was prettify the side tank. Completing the last project, fatbar handlebar was selected to provide ‘the enjoyment of riding’. The Lights was attached to the main shape. ‘Masterpiece-custom’ exhaust was selected to drag up the classic theme with a strong sound.
SCORPIO KEN - 11-01
We states that modify this bike with the purpose of earning our customers satisfaction and pride. We can safely assume, we have done that with this build. So….please welcome “THE SOOTY”.

THE CLYRO – YAMAHA XV535 ’97

THE CLYRO - 1-01

If someone asked me to recommend a bike that would make a great cafe racer, a Yamaha XV or Virago wouldn’t be high on the list. Actually, it probably wouldn’t even be on the list at all. But we are trying to change that. Used a 1997 Yamaha XV535 that was manufactured by Yamaha Motor Corporation and was positioned as mid-size metric cruiser with an engine displacement of 535 cc (32.6 cu in) as a donor bike. Based on our experienced this is the second Yamaha Virago Cafe Racer from us and it’s every bit as impressive as the last. Our first Yamaha XV used with same engine, 535 cc, but this time round we’re pulled out the big idea with a XV535. So, this is what happened with today’s feature bike, the first bike in 2016, the latest offering from us, call it THE CLYRO that we built from 1997 Yamaha XV535.
THE CLYRO - 10-01
To transform the XV535 cruiser into a cafe racer styled machine we began by dramatically modifying the bikes rear end. The stock swing arm was modified to accept taller Showa monoshocks and a custom sub frame raises the rider to sit level with the fuel tank. Clip-on bars and custom rear sets re-position the rider for a more aggressive riding position and upside down front end shock manage the change in rider weight placement. A set TK Japan rims 18X3.00 & custom 16X4.00 inch replaced the stock Yamaha rims and wrapped with 4.00-18 and 5.00-16 Firestone Deluxe Champion tires. The fuel tank is also a custom made item along with the low profile hand stitched leather seat at the rear. LED rear light units have been integrated into the tail loop while up front things are kept clean with bar end indicators and a 5 inch DRL headlight. The OEM panel controls mounted to the clip ons include a “tiny” tachometer, Brembo master cylinder and adjustable clutch and brake levers. Finally to add a bit of extra performance bite and plenty of audible bark we created a custom set of headers feeding a beautifully simple muffler
THE CLYRO - 2-01
Dressed in a retro inspired Yamaha mate grey with classic Yamaha line blocks this is yet another dramatic transformation of the XV535 and has me wondering how Yamaha wants it’s customers to look at the XV range? Is it a street cruiser or a potential cafe racer? What do you think?

THE BIFFY – YAMAHA SR500 ’82

SR500 - 5-01-1

Simple and aggressive. This was the build brief for our today’s feature bike. This neat Yamaha SR500 is one such build by us as a representative for our customer. He wanted to build a bike that would be fun for short commutes around the city, he first heard about the SR500 one year ago, and instantly fell in love with the idea of a single-cylinder half-liter bike. The design was mostly influenced with a simply model and worth for daily ride. Utilizing the classic single for the build, we decided the engine needed no work, and to focus on improving the aesthetics of the machine. The first aspect that needed to be touched up was the stance. And now with our pride, we are introducing our new latest build, THE BIFFY with a 1982 Yamaha SR500 as a donor.
SR500 - 2
Taking inspiration from the final design before, the machine has had the stock rims powder coated in black, laced with aluminum 18X3.00 and 18X3.50 inch  spokes and wrapped with 4.00-18 and 4.50-18 Firestone tires for front and back. Hand formed custom tank, side cover and front fender are made from 1.2 mm galvanized plate and the beautifully finished seat was covered in house. The classic gold brown combined with silver stripes and Yamaha logo were done by Komet Studio in Jakarta, who finished the bodywork using Sikkens base coat and varnish. For front forks we choose 41 mm telescopic shock included Nissin master cylinder and caliper for brake system, that instantly transform the bikes handling, safety and appearance. A set of fatbar handlebars and custom headlight sits between them, mounted on the lower triple tree. Upgrades to the SR500 performance come in from custom stainless steel exhaust system.
SR500 - 1-01
It’s a great bike, not uncomfortable as you could think, and ready to use for daily ride. We states that modify this bike with the purpose of earning our customers satisfaction and pride. And we think can safely assume have done that with this build. So….Please welcome “THE BIFFY”.

THE RAKA – KAWASAKI NINJA 250 ’09

THE RAKA - 9

The scrambler style is our favorite of the retro classic line up. It’s strikingly good-looking, ideal everyday ride, for around town or even some light off road work. And that’s how this custom started, when we were approached by a client who wanted to customize his 2009 Kawasaki Ninja 250. The owner of this bike had been riding the motorcycle around the rural outskirts of Jakarta for the last one year, but he wanted something more than the standard offering. The idea was to build something simple and with a strong look at the same time, after some research and some clever modifications, We think we’ve nailed it. And now from our latest builds with a honor we are introducing THE RAKA that we built from 2009 Kawasaki Ninja 250.
THE RAKA - 8
We knows that The Ninja 250 have a good engine and can make peoples feel easy to ride. But for this built we only need to released an original body and the legs sectors. Crafted a piece of 1.2 mm-thick galvanized plate sheet that integrated with the frame to perfection, and that looks 100% factory. Both fenders have been custom crafted manually for perfect visual integration. The rear one is short and perky, protruding from under the slender tail section. With no plastic body parts, this bike looks more aggressive and compact, showing us that, underneath the boxy bodywork, it is a beautiful bike. The front fork was changed Suzuki GSXR-600 Upside Down together with Fatbar handlebar and beautiful 5 inch headlight to make it simply looks. For wheel sectors absolutely we choose TK Japan spoke wheels 18X3.00 inch and 18X3.50 inch with Dunlop K180 120/80-18 and 130/80-18 for front and back. Look at the paint on the body! beautiful painted by Komet Studio with a green mate color based and he made a design like an army color.
THE RAKA - 2
Inspirational stuff, yup? How’s that famous poem go? “To watch the things you gave your life to, broken, and stoop and build ’em up with worn-out tools. And lose, and start again at your beginnings, and never breathe a word about your loss.” But to put mere words to a feat of this magnitude would be damning it with faint praise.

THE DT – HARLEY DAVIDSON STREET 500 ’15

THE DT - 3-01

Custom bikes, bringing the world together one build at a time. Who would think that building a beautiful motorcycle would be of such a benefit to multiculturalism? Today’s feature bike is an American machine, fabricated in India, modified in the style of the British and built by an Indonesian custom motorcycle workshop. With so many nationalities putting a bit into this bike, this 2015 Harley Davidson Street 500 went through a coffee maker to produce the smooth racer you see here today.   The brief for the build was to produce a style like a modern cafe racer that wouldn’t look out of place in the 60s. Built from the ground up using Indonesian ingenuity in the face of a limited custom bike scene, but we certainly knows the best options when it comes to bringing a bike to life. Ladies and Gentleman, we’d like to introduce you to ‘THE DT’, we built like a Cafe Racer.
THE DT - 1-01
The layout for the bike was adjusted accordingly, and a blueprint for a full cafe racer style bike to be wrapped around the American V-twin. Building on previous experience, a stock frame was to be utilized, we only modified sub frame based on guidance from the final design. One inch seamless pipework laid the groundwork, and was overlaid with 1.2mm galvanized plate in the form of cafe racer inspired bodywork. We made the fuel tank with rounded teardrop style and combined with SM Design gas cap. Helping to give the bike it’s sporting stance, the front end is fitted with a set of 43 – 55 mm Upside Down, donated by a Suzuki GSXR-1000. At the rear sits a set of 14 inch Ohlins Progressive shock, customized to suit the more aggressive riding style the bike would be subjected to. Rim choice for both front and rear is TK Japan with 17X3.50 inch and 17x.5.00 inch, shod in Metzeler M7RR tread rubber. Tire specifications on this build are 120/70-17 on the front, and 180/55-17 on the rear, giving that awesome balloon profile that cafe racers desire and nice to be on road. To ensure the custom machine pulls up in a hurry, brakes all round are Tokico Japan cylinder equipped. Happy with the factory output of HD Street , we decided to leave the internals alone. Open air filter from Skull and Danmoto 2 in 1 exhaust system is more focused on improving the engine note at speed rather than motivating the bike itself. Finally, the whole package was painted by Komet Studio in the colors of classic white and gold leaf stripe. Using Spies Heckers paint products, the finish is a beautiful composite of bike and totally concept.
THE DT - 9-01
With the build finished, there is only one thing left to do, and it is best summed up by us: “Ride your bike brother!”.

THE BEN’S – KAWASAKI VERSYS 650 ’12

THE BENS - 2-01

When we were approached our customer to build a tall, middleweight motorcycles with borrows design elements from dual purpose bike, adventure-tourers and sportbikes with a 650cc engine that could handle all the different roads Jakarta has to offer, we knew the 2012 Kawasaki Versys 650 would be the perfect donor. The stock bike is a very popular model given the countries rugged terrain. We found a lot of inspiration from the many custom scrambler builds coming outside. With our proud, this is what happened with today’s feature bike, the latest offering from us, call it ‘THE BEN’s that we built from 2012 Kawasaki Versys 650.
THE BENS - 5-01
Before we started to build this Versys 650, with our partner from Klinik Kustom we designed the bike with customer’s input. The concept was not difficult to draw and our ideas and his were the same, bike must look dashing, aggressive and without any kind of plastic. So the first thing that was stripped off the bike was a lot of plastic. The layout for the bike was adjusted accordingly, Building on previous experience, we only need to re-changed the model from original frame. The front end and swing arm plus back suspension still using an original including the rims. Only changed tires using Avon Distanzia 120/70-17 for front and 160/60-17 for the back. The original body was swapped with a handmade unit crafted from 1.2mm galvanized plate, along fitted in original Versys main frame. The custom headlight and taillight on “The Ben’s” are joined by fatbar handlebar, custom exhaust system and topped off with a metallic grey base combined with classic white by Komet Studio, highlighted with black stripped, using Sikkens product. Finally, with the build finished, there is only one thing left to do, and it is best summed up by our self. Nothing the best, it’s just a simply stunning from us, but really, It’s satisfied!!
